“Vehicle has been in storage and rarely driven since 2012”
That line kinda makes me raise an eyebrow. That’s how seals dry out and crack.

Get a PPI, examine service records, and buy it.

Pre-purchase inspection. Find a good local Audi shop and they should be able to tell you everything you need to know about the car. Usually costs like $150-200. Great piece of mind though.

As well as being parked a long time... e-brake frozen from lack of use?
Hell no.

it was actually another allroad. this was his response:
The car exterior is in great shape with the exception of one dent in the front driver side fender. There’s a small amount of rust at the bottom of the doors. The interior is in fair shape with the exception of some dog hair which of course I would back him out. The motor is sound and has a timing belt that is less then five years old. There’s a new clutch and pressure plate put in approximately three years ago.Front brakes were done around the same time. Compressor for the suspension was replaced about four years ago. The suspension airbags are approximately two years old.
There is a ride height sensor in the headlights that is throwing engine codes and the right rear brake rotor and pads need replacing. I drove the car up until about two weeks ago when I brake line failed on the same wheel. It would also need a front right strut

Was it a 4.2?
If the person doesn't know the difference between a timing belt and chain, stay away.

the S6 i posted was a 2005 with a 4.2 and he was the one who thought it had a timing belt. The email response i just posted for you was an Allroad 2.7 which I believe is a belt and $6k worth of work done (and looks to be about a $1k more). All these Audis are getting confusing. I’m still hoping to hear from the ‘95 S6

Correct, the 2.7t has a timing belt. In the future, the service interval for those are 75,000 miles.

unfortunately the one near me has 172000 miles. the guy just redid the valve cover gasket and said he could tell it was not the original but couldn;t tell me when it was done. are those hard to do?

They’re fairly straightforward ish. You have to remove the y pipe. They will usually seep some oil though.

the adjustable air ride would be nice to have for the snow but i’m thinking i might get pissed with how slow it is. I’m leaning to an s4 or s6. I also saw an M5 but I dont know if i can drive a BMW because of the sterotypes that go with it. The M5 was also beat.

Part of my reasoning to stick with Audi. I'm a douchebag though.
They aren't that slow though!

apparently I am as well, maybe I should get a BMW. I like the Audi, I’m just horrified of the financial impact it could have

Anything an Audi can do to you, a BMW can do.
